The Farce Continues – Leon Drolet in the news.

The Secretary of State has officially rejected the Dillon recall petitions.    They find a deficit of “only” 776 signatures, partly because they discounted challenges that affected the same signature more than once.

One interesting problem was that the number counted as pairs of “duplicate signatures” was reduced because one was actually forged, which caused the second to be treated as valid.   In other words, if Leon somehow wins an argument that a given signature isn’t “really” invalid because of problem #1, it could turn out to be invalid for problem #2, and then it could possibly create problem #3 for a signature that would otherwise be counted as valid.

The result is that he would need to rehabilitate more signatures than he thinks – he’s really over 1000 short.

For anyone who can’t get enough, Leon will be Off The Record’s June 6 guest.  It’ll be interesting to hear him apportion the incompetence and dishonesty among his friends, supporters, and allies.

Update: Leon’s appearance on WKAR’s Off The Record found him back on message, blaming the Democrats for all of his problems.  The reporter panelists didn’t know enough specifics to prevent him from spewing his inane claims that the problems were beyond his reach.  (“Excuse me,” someone needed to ask, “thousands of signatures were turned in by paid circulators who weren’t registered to vote in the district – did you consider checking before you paid them?”)

Most interesting was his NOT blaming the petition circulating firm he hired, nor his office help, nor his (criminal) employees.  Sounds like they’ve talked, and reached understandings.  Probably smart, given the legal mess Leon has created.  Smarter than anything else he’s done, at least.

    The farce does continue
Did you see how he spun it over at wrongmichigan.com? You knew he was going to take this to court. He must have some deep pockets. I wonder if the same rules were in force in 1983?

Is “Attention Whore” a psychological disorder?
And is there any known treatment? Drolet appears to be a real text-book case.
